Warranty

1. Warranty overview
By Barny warrants to the original purchaser that, for the period stated below from the date of purchase, By Barny jewellery will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.


2. Coverage & warranty period

  • Manufacturing faults: 12 months from date of purchase.
    Covers defects such as broken clasps, faulty links, loose settings, or other genuine manufacturing faults that cause a piece to fail under normal, intended use.


3. Remedies
If a valid warranty claim is accepted, By Barny will, at our discretion, repair the item, replace it with the same or equivalent item, or refund the purchase price.
Return postage is covered for confirmed manufacturing faults. For items outside warranty or damaged through misuse, return postage and any repair costs are the customer’s responsibility.


4. What the warranty does not cover
This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear, including surface scratches, plating fade, or changes from regular use.

  • Tarnishing, colour change, or oxidation caused by skin chemistry, moisture, perfumes, lotions, chlorine, or cleaning products.

  • Damage from misuse, impact, bending, improper storage, or unauthorised repair/alteration.

  • Loss, theft, or cosmetic issues that do not affect structural integrity.

  • Personalised or engraved items altered after purchase.

  • Permanent jewellery (welded/soldered pieces) beyond 3 months — see section 7.


5. Proof of purchase & evidence
Claims require proof of purchase (order number or receipt) and clear photos showing the issue.
By Barny may request return of the item for inspection before confirming a remedy.


6. Timeframe for assessment & action
We aim to respond to warranty enquiries within 5 business days.
Once received, valid manufacturing claims will be repaired, replaced, or refunded as quickly as possible.


7. Permanent jewellery 
For permanent jewellery (e.g. welded bracelets applied in-store), a 3 month warranty applies for manufacturing defects or faulty joins.
General wear, stretching, or chemical discolouration are not covered.


8. Shipping & handling

  • For accepted warranty claims, By Barny provides a prepaid return label.

  • For claims not accepted under warranty, customers cover return and any repair costs.


9. Limitations & statutory rights
This warranty complements your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law and does not limit them in any way.


10. How to make a claim
Email hello@bybarny.com with:

  • Your order number and date of purchase

  • 2–3 clear photos showing the issue

  • A short description of the fault

We’ll reply within 5 business days with next steps.
